Step into the magic — literally. Starting June 21, our front window at Bricks and Minifigs Littleton will be transformed into a spellbinding scene straight out of the wizarding world, thanks to an incredible custom build by local LEGO® artist John Schultz.

This isn’t your average Diagon Alley. It’s an immersive, minifig-scale masterpiece filled with fan-favorite shops, clever Easter eggs, twinkling lights, and even a few crossovers that will make you look twice. It’s part tribute, part reinvention — and 100% magical.

Meet the Builder: John Schultz

John’s LEGO journey began with a pile of unopened Hogwarts sets bought for his stepson. “They just sat there,” he laughs. But during COVID, he dusted off the boxes and found himself inspired. What began as a project to combine a few sets quickly turned into a 48-square-foot Hogwarts display spanning two full tables. And he hasn’t slowed down since.

Now, he’s bringing that same passion and precision to Diagon Alley.

“It started with the official sets, but I re-ordered everything, lifted the buildings onto custom platforms, and added depth, lighting, and storytelling,” John explains.

From Ollivanders to Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes, each building has been adapted, expanded, and brought to life with custom signage, LED lighting, and even a few surprising cameos (C-3PO and Doctor Strange’s Sanctum Sanctorum, anyone?). Keep an eye out for hidden gems, like the British bridge scaled up from micro to macro, or John’s personal favorite — a self-referential “John’s Office” tucked into the scene.

About the Build

  • Theme: Diagon Alley
  • Lighting: USB-powered LEDs wired at 1/8″ scale
  • Scale: A blend of official LEGO sets and custom-built expansions
  • Fun Fact: Some signs were made using a label maker; others were modeled after Universal Studios’ park maps of Diagon Alley!

“Diagon Alley is a mix of the magical and the mundane,” says John. “It’s a space that’s been standing for 500 years, held together by magic –  and I wanted to capture that depth and history.”
