With over $175 in prizes at stake, come see if your car has what it takes to get the gold medal! Design your car for form and function, as there are prizes for both fastest car and “best in show” as voted by your peers. And all participants will receive a free LEGO minifigure from the Minifig Maker table!

How to play

• Stop by the store to purchase your official metal wheel and axle kit for $10 – yours to keep forever!
• Take the kit home and build your car using any combination of LEGO bricks (see specifications below)
• Return with your car – ready to race! – on Friday, January 18 at 5:30pm:
  • 5:30pm check-in
  • 6:00pm best-in-show voting
  • 6:15pm racing starts!

Car specifications

• Maximum car dimensions are 9 inches long, 3 inches wide, and 4 inches high
• All parts of the car must fit behind the starting pin before the race
• Bricks & Minifigs staff may inspect your car to ensure compliance. We want to make sure your car won’t damage the track or other cars.
• Racers may not modify cars between races, but you can repair your car if it becomes damaged during the race

Other important rules:

• Each participant who races (adult or child) must have their own car
• Participants must have designed their own car
• Participants in the child category must be 5-13 years old
• Participants in the adult category must be 14+ years old
• Spectators are welcome to view but may not race or win

• Adult 2nd place: $20 bag of bulk LEGO bricks
• Adult 3rd place: $8 tub of bulk LEGO bricks
• Child 1st place: $40 bag of bulk LEGO bricks
• Child 2nd place: $20 bag of bulk LEGO bricks
• Child 3rd place: $8 tub of bulk LEGO bricks
• Adult best in show: $20 bag of bulk LEGO bricks
• Child best in show: $20 bag of bulk LEGO bricks
