As one of the longest running and most popular LEGO themes, there are seemingly as many Star Wars minifigs as there are stars in our favorite galaxy far away. But some are more valuable than others, so it’s time to talk about some of the rarest* LEGO Star Wars minifigures!

Why Are Some LEGO Minifigs So Rare?

While these aren’t the only contributing factors, the rarity of any minifigure usually comes down to a combination of these things:

  • Limited Production Runs: Not all minifigs and sets have the same amount produced. Some have smaller production runs that lead to a minifigure being harder to obtain, thus rare.
  • Limited Distribution and Exclusivity: Aside from production, some minifigures are only available at specific events or part of specific promotions. From Comic-Con® to movie anniversaries, there’s no shortage of occasions to create unique LEGO products. The more exclusive they are, the harder to find.
  • Popularity: Whether it’s part of a massive fandom or just something that goes viral, some minifigs and products just reach levels of popularity that make them so much more desirable than anyone could have guessed.
  • And of course, there’s a certain flare and appeal that can never entirely be predicted.

So, with that in mind, let’s begin our tour of the galaxy and its exclusive, rare minifigs!

The Top 10 Rarest Minifigs in the Galaxy

To figure out the rarest Star Wars minifigs, we consulted Bricklink for the most expensive and hard to find minifigures. Since some of the hardest to find come from the same couple of sets, we’ve limited it to one minifigure per set. Otherwise, this would just be a Cloud City appreciation post.

Without further ado, let’s explore the minifig version of our favorite galaxy far, far away! We’ll start with the tenth most rare, and work up to the #1 most rare LEGO Star Wars minifig!

#10 – Pre Viszla

The first of our rarest minifigs is Pre Viszla, a standout character in the popular TV series, “Star Wars: The Clone Wars”. This famed Mandalorian commanded the splinter group known as Death Watch. He famously went toe-to-toe with Darth Maul and even wielded the legendary Darksaber, an ancient blade that represents the right to rule the planet Mandalore.

Pre Vizsla’s minifigure counterpart is just as striking as his onscreen appearance, featuring a unique cape that distinguishes him from standard Mandalorians. Originally released in Pre Vizsla’s Mandalorian Fighter set, his status as a one-set exclusive has made him increasingly difficult for collectors to track down.

LEGO® Star Wars™ minifigure of Pre Viszla
  • Year Released: 2012
  • Accessories: Jetpack, sand blue pauldron cape, and Darksaber
  • Set: Pre Visla’s Mandalorian Fighter (9525)
  • Price: $175-230

#9 – Lando Calrissian Cloud City Outfit

Featured in the massive Betrayal at Cloud City set in 2018, this version of Lando Calrissian is a rare and detailed minifigure. This figure finally gave fans his movie-accurate hair and highly detailed printing that matches his suave style.

That’s two variations of Cloud City that have rare minifigs! A fun coincidence that can confuse some collectors, the two different iterations of Cloud City, released 15 years apart, have produced some of the rarest minifigures! While the 2003 version is famous for its rarity, this 2018 Lando is prized for being the definitive “high-end” version of the character.

  • Accessories: Blue and brown cape

#8 – Queen Amidala

Released with the Gungan Sub set, Queen Amidala is a standout minifigure even regardless of her rarity. This version of the Queen of Naboo features a specialized, ornate curved dress piece rather than the standard slope used for most other characters.

The unique mold, combined with her elaborate headpiece and highly detailed face printing, perfectly captures her regal look from the films and makes her a centerpiece for any prequel-era collection.

#7 – “Rebels” Ahsoka Tano

Released with other sets from the “Star Wars: Rebels” TV show, this minifig version of Ahsoka Tano is one of the rarest on our list. Her minifigure matches the design of this fan favorite character’s return to the show after she disappeared from the previous show, “Star Wars: The Clone Wars”.

The former Jedi apprentice has truly come into her own as a powerful rebel leader. This evolution is perfectly captured in her minifigure, which boasts a unique set of lightsabers with curved hilts that mirror her sleek, dual-wielding combat style from the show.

#6 – Darth Revan

The Darth Revan minifigure is a rare and unique Star Wars minifigs to exist since it doesn’t come from the movies or shows. At first glance, some fans may even wonder if this is an official Star Wars character at all, but he definitely is! This fan-favorite Sith is the protagonist of the cult classic Knights of the Old Republic video games and was only released in a series of polybags that were given as a gift with purchase.

A brilliant tactical genius who famously wielded both the Light and Dark sides of the Force, serving as both a tortured hero and a powerful Sith Lord. His unique look and redemption arc make him one of the most complex characters in the Star Wars Legends universe.

#5 – Jango Fett Balaclava

Another Mandalorian to round out this list, this version of Jango Fett was originally released in the Jango Fett’s Slave I set in 2002. As the genetic template for the Republic clone army, Jango is a cornerstone of the Star Wars prequel era, making this minifigure a nostalgic favorite for long-time fans and collectors.

Unlike later versions that featured more detailing, this minifig captures his classic silver and blue armor from his debut in “Star Wars: Attack of the Clones”. This was his first appearance in LEGO form and has made him a highly sought-after minifig.

#4 – Darth Vader – Chrome Black

This list wouldn’t be complete without some version of one of the most iconic villains of all time, and this rare Darth Vader minifig lives up to that iconic status thanks to a striking chrome finish.

To celebrate a decade of the LEGO Star Wars theme, a limited run of these special poly bags were produced – only 10,000 sets – to celebrate the iconic franchise. This minifig’s printing is done all in chrome black from head to toe, making him a visual standout worthy of the Dark Lord of the Sith.

#3 – Cloud City Boba Fett

Famous in LEGO spaces for being difficult to find, the Cloud City Boba Fett minifig is one of the rarest versions of the fan-favorite bounty hunter. He originally appeared in the 2003 Cloud City set and because the set was sold exclusively in LEGO Stores, it was notoriously hard to track down, contributing to its legendary status today.

What truly sets this version apart from other Boba Fett minifigures released during the same era is its unprecedented level of detail. With unique printing on the arms and legs, this marked the first time the character’s Mandalorian armor and utility gear were depicted with such intricacy. With such a limited production run and these exclusive design elements, the Cloud City Boba Fett remains one of the most expensive and rarest minifigures you’ll ever encounter.

  • Year Released: 2003
  • Accessories: Blaster
  • Set: 2003 Cloud City (10123)

#2 – C-3PO – Chrome Gold (SW 30th Anniversary Edition)

The Chrome Gold C-3PO minifigure is a legendary version of everyone’s favorite golden droid and was released to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Star Wars franchise.

Released in select Star Wars sets in 2007, there were only 10,000 of this minifig produced, making him one of the most sought after minifigs out there. And his coating of chrome gold only adds to the appeal. Not to be confused with one of the five solid gold minifigs of the same style that were awarded to prize winners in 2007, this version is still made of plastic with a chrome painting rather than real gold.

  • Price: $1,500-2,500

#1 – Yoda “NY I Heart” Torso

This minifigure version of Yoda feels a bit closer to our own galaxy thanks to his “NY I Heart ” shirt. This minifig was originally released as an exclusive gift with purchase for the Toys R Us in Times Square. And since there were only 1,000 produced,  this figure has since become one of the most expensive and sought-after minifigs.

The whimsical design – pairing the ancient Jedi Master with a classic piece of New York City souvenirs – makes it a unique crossover that collectors rarely see in the standard Star Wars line.
