Who Bricks & Minifigs Is
Bricks & Minifigs is a one-stop shop for all things LEGO. If you haven’t heard of us, then allow us to introduce ourselves! We sell a wide array of LEGO products, from new sets to tables full of bricks in bulk, childhood retired sets to shelves full of minifigs, and so much more
But, we’re also a lot more than just a LEGO resale store, we are a community of people united around a love of one of the coolest toys. So, come find out more about who we are and how we started!
How Bricks & Minifigs Began: BAM History
What began as an idea in 2003, and a single store in 2009, has grown into the Bricks & Minifigs franchise with more than 200 open locations across the United States and Canada, with more being added all the time!
In 2003, David Ortiz set out to create a way for people to buy, sell, and trade LEGO items and still have time for their families. The idea stayed with him for several years until he met John Masek, who had spent much of his career managing retail stores for major brands. When the two connected, they discovered they were interested in the same large LEGO collection.
David’s knowledge and John’s retail experience—alongside their mutual enthusiasm for LEGO sets—eventually combined into a business venture. In 2009, their idea became a store, and that store became the basis for a company. That same company began franchising in 2011, and now includes an expanding group of stores across North America, and, soon, Australia.
Since its creation in 2003, Bricks & Minifigs has undergone several changes:
- A relocation of corporate offices from Washington to Utah
- Several logos and brand styles
- Different CEOs and store owners
But the same commitment to LEGO products and the joy they bring families and fans has been consistent across the years.
And, it’s that same magic we’re committed to in our stores every day.

- Glass display cases with crowds of different minifigs, including rare ones
- Shelves with retired and new sets alike

- A minifig maker table where you can design your own minifig
- Friendly employees who are part of the LEGO community too
