Drop off dates: August 20-21

Build Showcase: August 22

THE CHALLENGE

Kansas City is a city like no other, we’re famous for our fountains, our skyline, our historic neighborhoods, our music and our food. This month, build a scene that captures and celebrates what makes KC special to you! We’re thinking BBQ, Jazz, Fountains, your favorite team or neighborhood. Get creative and see what you can come up with. Bonus points for anyone that incorporates a KC Heart into their design!

However you build it, make it yours!

BUILD CATEGORIES

This month we’re going to mix the categories up a bit and do them based on effort and skill level rather than age. Select what you’re comortable with but don’t purposefully try to throw the gam: if you set yourself as a STARTER but show up with a MASTER level, we’ll move you to an appropriate category.

BUILD STARTERS

Recommended for age 8 & under: this is the perfect category for young kids or newer builders that want to test things out in a low stress way

BUILD CREW

Recommended for ages over 9: builders that are more experienced and want to compete

BUILD MASTERS

Recommended for ages over 9: you know who you are, you’ve got the skills, creativity and cleverness for your designs

AWARDS

  • $25 staff pick for Build Starters
  • $25 staff pick for Build Crew
  • $25 staff pick for Build Masters
  • $25 Viewers’ Choice — voted by visitors on showcase day

Awards and prizes are subject to change as outlined in our Community MOC Build Contest Terms and Conditions.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Size: Builds must be fully contained within a 32 x 32 baseplate (10 inches x 10 inches) and should not exceed 10 inches height.
  • Strength: Your build must be strong enough that it can be moved or bumped without falling apart.
  • Each entry must be registered with the following information:
    • Your Name
    • Your Build Category
    • A title for your entry
    • A brief description (2 to 3 sentences) of your scene or build, especially if there are any hidden details, easter eggs, or play features the viewer and judgers should know about. Play features will only be handled by the creator or staff, and viewers will not be allowed to touch entries.

BUILD FOR YOUR AUDIENCE

Your creation will be displayed on a table where the audience will not be able to see all sides so make sure you keep that in mind while building your scene. Keep your build discoverable and accessible!
