Contest Category Definitions

  • Best use of color — Recognizes the build that uses color in the most effective, intentional, or visually striking way. This could include bold palettes, clever contrasts, smooth gradients, or color choices that enhance the theme or storytelling of the model.
  • Most intricate build — Awarded to the model that demonstrates the highest level of detail, complexity, and fine craftsmanship. This includes small part usage, layered techniques, micro‑detailing, and builds that reward close inspection.
  • Best weapon design — Celebrates the most impressive, creative, or well‑engineered weapon or armament. This could be handheld, mounted, sci‑fi, fantasy, or realistic—judged on design clarity, creativity, and build execution.
  • Best stand out design — Goes to the build that immediately grabs attention. This category rewards bold silhouettes, strong visual identity, or anything that makes the model instantly memorable from across the room.
  • Most innovative design — Honors the build that introduces a fresh idea, unexpected technique, unusual part usage, or a creative twist that feels new and original.
  • Most intimidating design — Recognizes the model that looks the most powerful, fearsome, or imposing. This could be due to scale, shape, color choices, weaponry, or overall presence.
  • Most friendly looking design — Awarded to the build that appears the most approachable, cute, cheerful, or welcoming. Soft shapes, bright colors, expressive faces, or playful themes often shine here.
  • Best standout building technique — Highlights a specific technique or construction method that is especially clever, skillful, or well‑executed. This focuses on how the model is built rather than the overall design.
  • Most “sci‑fi” looking — Celebrates the build that best captures futuristic, technological, or otherworldly aesthetics. Think advanced machinery, alien architecture, sleek starships, robotics, or imaginative tech.
  • Best use of traditional LEGO parts — Recognizes the build that makes the most impressive use of classic, common, or iconic LEGO elements—showing creativity without relying heavily on hyper‑specialized or rare pieces.
  • Voters’ choice award — The overall favorite. Voters simply choose the build they personally like the most, for any reason at all.

Voting Process

  • Voting Period — Voting begins Monday, June 15th and runs through Tuesday, June 30th.
  • Customer Voting — Voting is conducted by customers visiting the store during the voting period.
  • One Vote Per Category — Each voter may select one build per category. A voter may select the same build in multiple categories if they believe it fits those categories.

  • Voter Prize Eligibility — Voters who selected the winning build in a category are entered into a drawing for an additional prize.
  • Voters’ Choice Award — In addition to category voting, each voter may select one overall favorite build for the Voters’ Choice Award. This vote is independent of category selections, and all submissions are eligible.
  • Winner Announcement — All winners (category winners, Voters’ Choice winner, and voter‑draw winners) will be announced Friday, July 3rd.

Judging & Prizes

  • Judging Criteria — Judging is based entirely on voter interpretation of how faithfully each build represents its assigned category.
  • Category Winner Selection — The winner in each category is the build that receives the most customer votes, regardless of whether voters selected the same build in multiple categories.
  • Voters’ Choice Award — A separate Voters’ Choice Award will be given to the submission that receives the most votes as the overall favorite. Any submission is eligible, regardless of category. This is the only way a build may win two awards (a category award and the Voters’ Choice Award).
  • Prize Conditions — Category winners and the Voters’ Choice winner receive the designated prizes for their respective awards. Prizes are non‑transferable and may not be exchanged for cash.
  • Winner Photography Consent — By entering, participants agree that if their build is selected as a winner, they consent to being photographed with their build, a team member, and their prize by the Organizers.

  • Photo Usage Rights — By entering, participants grant the Organizers permission to use submitted photos in promotional materials, social media posts, and future contest advertising.
  • Video Usage Rights — By entering, participants also grant the Organizers permission to record video during the event and to use that footage in promotional materials, social media posts, and future contest advertising.
  • Ownership — Participants retain ownership of their physical builds. The Organizers will not claim ownership or authorship of any builds they did not create in any promotional materials, social media posts, or future contest advertising.
