Honoring the Spirits: Día de Los Muertos

Today, we come together to celebrate Día de Los Muertos, a time to honor and remember the spirits of our loved ones who have passed on. This vibrant tradition, rooted in Mexican culture, teaches us that even in loss, there is beauty, joy, and connection.

On this day, families create beautiful altars, or ofrendas, adorned with photos, candles, marigold flowers (cempasúchil), and the favorite foods and mementos of those who are no longer with us. These offerings are prepared with love, welcoming our loved ones back for a brief, heartfelt reunion. Sugar skulls and pan de muerto are placed to represent the sweetness of life and the cycle of existence.

Día de Los Muertos reminds us that our ancestors and loved ones continue to be part of our lives, not only in memory but in spirit. As we light candles and share stories, let’s celebrate their lives, carrying their love forward. 🌼🕯️
